Our latest template is a cake topper for a graduation party.

Type in a name and year to generate a personalized, two-layer cut file.

The two layers allow you to cut the backer from one material and the name from an accent material. Here we used black and gold glitter acrylic from Custom Made Better. (Use code CUTTLE10 for 10% off!)

For gluing acrylic to acrylic, we recommend applying a peel-and-stick adhesive (such as 3M 468MP) to the back of the name material before cutting. Then you can peel and stick it to the backer. There’s a great thread in the Facebook Group about what specific products and brands people like!

The name is automatically welded to the backer and an optional inset score line is added to help you align the placement.

FB Livestream #2: Making a simple circular ornament template 🧑‍🏫

Yesterday Federico hosted our second Facebook Live tutorial on making your own templates in the Cuttle Editor.

This time Federico demonstrated how to make a simple ornament with a name (Connected Text) in the center. You can change the name and it automatically resizes to fit within the circle (using the Fit Within modifier). He also showed how to use Weld And Score so that the name is welded to the circle with score lines automatically added to help the name “pop” out of the ornament.

Other Improvements and Fixes 🐞

  • Made menus scroll properly when they’re too big to fit on the screen. This was occurring in the “Move to Folder” submenu on the project dashboard for users who had lots of folders. Thanks for the report HasanCreates!
  • Improved the performance of projects that have lots of geometry, such as Name Flower. Were working on more performance improvements for these projects!
  • Set the “true color” in DXF exports. This should improve color resolution in supporting software.
  • Fixed a bug with copy and paste in text parameters.
  • Fixed a bug where parameters inside of folders were not copied properly when duplicating a component.
