Hi everyone,

Here's the latest with Cuttle.

  • Emojis in Cuttle
  • Emoji Keychain Generator
  • Emoji Playground
  • Paper Linkages video
  • Heads up about pricing

Emojis 😸

There’s now a built-in Emoji component in Cuttle!

Simply drag the Emoji onto the canvas. Then you can pick which emoji you want in the inspector.

We’re already having a lot of fun with this new feature. See below… 👇

Emoji Keychain Generator 🔑

As a follow-up to the popular Keychain Generator (where you can customize the text) I made a new… Emoji Keychain Generator! 💥

You can customize the emoji, size, outline, and key ring hole placement.

Then just download the SVG and send it to your laser cutter. The filled purple area is meant to engrave and the black outline to cut.

Emoji Playground 🗿

Ryan’s been collaging emojis and made this Emoji Playground project.

To use it, make a new component (for a fresh canvas) and drag out the Emoji Sticker component. You can customize the sticker’s emoji, foreground color, background color, and border.

There are a bunch more examples in the project.

If you make something cute, please share it on the #show-and-tell channel of the Cuttle Discord

Paper Linkages Video 🌸

Federico released Part 5 of his Paper Linkages series.

In this episode he uses a linkage to do a motion study — tracing a path — and also makes a notched wheel. Follow @cuttlexyz on Instagram for the final episode!

Heads Up About Pricing 💰

In a few weeks, Cuttle will graduate from “beta” and we will launch our paid “Creator” plan.

  • Pricing will be $15 / month — or $12 / month paid annually (save 20%).
  • We will continue to offer a free plan but it will be limited to creating 5 projects.
  • With a paid account you can create unlimited projects and also have access to more features and premium templates.
  • You will always have access to all of your existing projects, even if you cancel your subscription. You just wouldn’t be able to create new projects if you’re over the 5 project limit.
  • We’ll have educational pricing, to make it easy and affordable to upgrade your entire classroom or school. If you’re a teacher using Cuttle, please get in touch (reply to this email). We want to ensure any current classes are not disrupted by this change.

We have so many plans for the future of Cuttle: raster images and tracing; more templates, kits, and building blocks for joinery, sewing, and other fabrication methods; custom fonts; touch / tablet / stylus support; better workflows for faster prototyping; even 3D someday!

By subscribing, you’ll help us build a sustainable business to keep making Cuttle more capable.

If you have any feedback on this pricing announcement, please let me know (reply to this email).

Other Improvements and Fixes 🐞

  • Fixed a bug where grouping with a nested selection would have unexpected results. Thank you Steve Ruiz for the report.
  • Scripting: we’re now suppressing Find (cmd / ctrl + F) on single-line expressions.

Thanks for sticking with us as we build Cuttle! As always, I love to hear your feedback — reply to this email or chat with us on the Discord chat room.
