Cake Topper with Two Stakes (SVG Generator) πŸŽ‚, and Making cute animals in Cuttle 🐦

Hi everyone,

Here's the latest with Cuttle.

Cake Topper with Two Stakes πŸŽ‚βœŒοΈ

After we released our Cake Topper template, several folks requested a version with two stakes.

This new variation has two stakes. You can customize the text, the font, and the placement of the stakes!

We are happy to take requests for templates β€” variations on existing ones or new ones! Just reply to this email if you have an idea πŸ€—

Making cute animals from basic shapes 🐦

Federico posted a charming short video (1 min) to our Instagram, showing how to make cute animals from Ed Emberley’s classic Drawing Book out of basic shapes in the Cuttle editor.

Check it out on our Instagram!

This video is a study for a Beginner’s Course that Federico and I are working on. We’re trying to make a structured introduction to laser cut design in Cuttle for absolute beginners. If you’d be interested in taking a first version of this course, let me know! (Reply to this email.)

New basic shapes πŸŒ’

Based on user feedback we added a few new basic shapes: Semicircle, Pie Slice, and Moon Phase.

Moon Phase is particularly fun as you can change the moon with the phase parameter:

There were getting to be too many templates in our library πŸ˜… so we did a quick redesign to organize them into categories!

Other Improvements and Fixes 🐞

  • Undo and redo has been improved to better preserve the selection and focused component.
  • Cuttle now saves your project only when it actually changes. Previously, when you made a selection, expanded something in the inspector, or changed the focused component, we would treat that as a change to the project and save. This resulted in published projects showing a blue βœ”οΈ (indicating the project had changed since last published) or the browser to show a warning about leaving the page before saving changes.
  • The styling of YouTube embeds has been improved.
  • More compact SVG export: Cuttle now simplifies geometry by removing groups before exporting.
  • Fixed a bug where the <title> tag was missing from exported SVGs.
  • Fixed image rasterization when exporting to SVG and PDF. Previously the rasterization setting was ignored and images were always rasterized.
  • Fixed Axis/Ray intersections with cubics. This caused some snapping points between guides and paths to not appear.
  • Fixed a bug where tooltips would appear even while dragging.
  • Fixed a styling issue that made the Pro upgrade modal unusable on mobile.
